Air

Among the three pillars of Environment, Clean Air for All stands as a key strategic priority for Welspun Living. We accord the highest importance to mitigating air pollution and addressing the impacts of climate change through structured, science-driven action. Over the years, Welspun Living has consistently reduced its energy consumption and carbon footprint through focused initiatives in energy efficiency, adoption of cleaner fuels, and substitution of virgin raw materials with recycled alternatives. We actively monitor and report our Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and, since FY22, have expanded our efforts to include Scope 3 emissions across our value chain. In FY25, we achieved a renewable energy mix of over 30% across all manufacturing sites. Read more

Water

Water is a precious and increasingly scarce resource, and its limited availability remains one of the most pressing challenges for industry today. Much like climate change, effective water management requires urgent and sustained action to prevent pollution, over-extraction, and inequitable access across communities. Welspun Living recognizes this challenge, particularly as its facilities are located in water-stressed regions and textile processing operations are inherently water-intensive. This makes responsible and judicious water use not just important, but imperative. Read more

Land

As a fast-growing global home textiles leader, Welspun Living remains committed to delivering superior product quality while generating measurable environmental and social impact. The Company continues to accelerate the transition from conventional raw materials to certified sustainable alternatives by steadily increasing its sourcing of Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton and Organic Cotton. With a clear roadmap in place, Welspun Living aims to achieve 100% sustainable cotton sourcing — including Organic and BCI cotton — by 2030. Read more

Sustainable Manufacturing

Zero Fresh water Usage at Anjar

Our 30 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) addresses two critical challenges simultaneously: the large-scale treatment of municipal sewage generated by the cities of Adipur, Gandhidham, and Anjar, and the complete elimination of freshwater dependency for our textile manufacturing processes. Under this integrated model, we collect, transport, and treat municipal sewage to meet the stringent quality standards required for textile production. This circular approach has enabled us to achieve complete freshwater independence for manufacturing operations at our Anjar facility—demonstrating how industrial growth and responsible resource management can go hand in hand.

Energy Conservation

As a leading textile brand in the world, one of the sustainable practices that we have adopted is around energy conservation which helps in reducing our carbon footprint. Energy conservation efforts include use of energy efficient devices, optimizing HVAC use, use of VFD’s in our operational plants, etc. This has helped in not only reducing the net energy requirement of our operations but has also reduced our GHG footprint. Employees across our operations enthusiastically participate in energy conservation efforts through new ideas and campaigns. The company is also making efforts to include Renewable energy as a part of its energy portfolio which will further reduce its GHG footprint.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

We have conducted life cycle assessment (LCA) of our products to understand their impact on the environment at their different life cycle stages. We use the information received from such studies to design better products which leave lesser impact on the environment during their production and use phases. We also use the information to inform our customers on the benefits of such products which reduce environmental impacts.

Biodiversity

As a responsible provider of sustainable textiles, we have made consistent efforts to increase green cover in and around our plant areas. We have planted close to 300,000 trees at Anjar with more than 300 varieties of trees. This has improved the overall biodiversity of the region with local tree varieties which attracts the local birds and animal species. The water lagoon at Anjar also attracts migratory birds in the region.

Certifications

Our manufacturing plants have state of the art equipment and follow world class operational practices. They are certified for various standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SA 8000, Oeko-Tex -100, GOTS, Higgs Index, etc.

Supply Chain

As we focus on reducing our carbon footprint, we have also prioritized the usage of sustainable modes of transportation. Our onsite setup of ancillary supplier units for immediate access also reduces emissions, and our supply chain initiatives have also reduced GHG emissions by 15%. In addition, our Wel-Trak solution ensures complete traceability.

Enabling Circularity

In order to transform from linear to circular systems, we focus on pre as well as post-consumer waste. So, we are involved in plastic recycling for packaging as we have replaced virgin polyester with recycled LDPE, and we also reduce plastic consumption by using textile waste. Recycled paper also accounts for 100% of carton usage at the Anjar factory. Read more
